Roblox (/ˈroʊblɒks/ ROH-bloks) is an online game platform and game creation system developed by Roblox Corporation that allows users to program and play games created by themselves or other users. It was created by David Baszucki and Erik Cassel in 2004, and released to the public in 2006.
At that time, the free to play gaming platform said it loud and clear, "Let's set things straight: Roblox isn't 'shutting down'. " The statement further added, "same hoax (with a few details changed) goes around every year or two."
The publisher still posts regularly on its Twitter/X account and periodically takes to the social media platform to reassure the Roblox player base that their favorite game isn't going anywhere.
